100 Black Men of America Conference 2013 in New Orleans, LA.
my weekend. and my new profession as a tour photographer, apparently.
yes sir. it’s from the two month summer 2009 tour that i did with them and rx bandits… we had as tall as lions, good old war, and zechs marquise open up different parts of the tour. arguably the best two months of my life.
@ jack - when i was on tour with the guys in summer 2009, we had a day off at lake shasta and rented some boats with the other bands we were out with. the boats were docked on an island. gavin and i were messing around and he picked me up and threw me off the boat. since the boat was docked, i undoubtedly thought that i was going to hit land and die/break something/everything. luckily—- despite being docked—- there was water below and i was a-okay. horrified, but okay.
the two months i spent on the road with those dudes were some of the best of my life, but also probably amongst the most dangerous to my health. haha. next story: the time i got dog piled in the front lounge and ended up with a bruised rib.
this picture just blew my fucking mind. i miss this bus and i miss these boys. i’m trying to figure out what day this was taken (and who took it!), as i know this was on that tour by tim’s cowboy hat. oh man, i love this.

i flew to oakland, california yesterday. i got in around 11:30 PST.
today i woke up and met up with jason to head to the Cinder Block offices. i was able to meet the great people behind the great company that i’m going to be working for over the next 8 weeks. we went to the warehouse and started to load the semi with everything for tour. we broke for lunch and upon returning to the warehouse, matty was there. matty is the third person in our merch trifecta for the summer. we had been internet friends for a bit but never met in person before and there was no hesitation between him arriving and us feeling like old friends. after finishing up the semi, we went back to the hotel and the three of us walked to in-n-out for dinner and talked up a storm. it was so… amazing… to have such good conversation with the people sitting next to me. people with good morals and strong hearts. and i am beyond thankful that i get to spend every day of my summer with these dudes.
we fly to LA tomorrow and have pre-production for tour the next day. tour starts thursday. i can’t wait to see familiar faces and familiar places. <3
the last time i was here was august 30th&31st for the last two days of the dredg tour.
i love this place.
my birthday starts in 7 hours. hella stoked.
“The tour has been going very well thus far, two back to back sold-out shows- Anaheim, and our hometown: San Francisco. The crowds were amazing and made us feel very welcome. Last night, however, Eye Alaska invited us to hang with them in their hotel room for a while; naturally we accepted. I returned to the van to grab something when the hotel owner approached me and began interrogating me about our business there. I assured him we wouldn’t be spending the night in his parking lot and together with Eye Alaska’s tour manager we were able to get him to leave us be. About 10 minutes later a woman from the front desk came rushing into the parking lot lecturing on how we were “defrauding Travelodge” by having our van parked in their vacant parking lot. Without confrontation we left and set out for the nearest Walmart to spend the night. As we pull into the parking lot we were approached by a security guard who informed us that the particular Walmart we’d chosen does not allow customers to stay in their lots overnight but that there was another Walmart 3 miles down the road (because this is America…) So once again, we set out for a place to crash, Eye Alaska’s TM following us in the EA van.
When we’d finally settled into bed and had some time to fall asleep (it was about 3:30am by this point) I was awakened by a bright light shining into the van and a knock on our door. Apparently someone had called the police b/c they thought they’d seen a ‘half-naked woman in distress trying to crawl out of our van.’ Stacy (our TM) being the only female on board- and who was fully clothed for the record- assures the officer she was in the BC mobile on her own free will. The officer asked Jarred, who was sleeping in the “dungeon” (the area beneath the loft in the back of our van) if he had any half-naked women down there with him, to which he replied: “I wish.”
The officers loitered outside of the van for a while before pulling a Supertrooper stunt and driving around in the Walmart parking lot with their sirens buzzing for about 3 minutes. After they left I realized the ‘woman in distress’ was none other than a shirt-less Jarred Dooley whom an hour earlier had struggled getting in and out of the dungeon through the rear door in the van. With his long shaggy hair in a pony tail, he was the ‘victim’ someone decided was worth calling the cops for. We awoke at 10 after a rough night and hastily left Portland.”
hahahahahahahahaha, this always makes me cry from laughing. i remember giggling for at least the next half an hour after this happened. kevin (eye alaska’s tour manager) texted me “what the fuck just happened?!” and i just kept laughing to the point that team BC wanted to kill me because they wanted to go back to sleep. this tour was far too short, but it brought me some of the best times of my life.
file under: family. and my hair/face looks legitimately stupid. but i am happy when i am with these four gents.

good old war - “that’s what’s wrong”
i just stopped what i was doing to watch this video. it brought the biggest smile to my face. seeing these kids every night was my favorite thing about the beginning of the dredg tour. i miss these three dudes a ton. not only are they some of the most talented musicians ever, but they’re phenomenal people.
I wokeup this morning to some very unfortunate news.
Last night Jess, Stephen, and I went to watch some of our best friends in the new upcoming band “Reece” play a show at the clubhouse in Tempe. After the show we laughed about how crazy their overnight drive to Texas will be, I even said “we’ll…
This is so scary, all I keep thinking is that could be our van :(
Let’s all help them out please! Thank God they are okay.
i’m actually whimpering and crying right now after reading that. gah. i always worry for my friends on tour. i can’t imagine being in this situation, myself, with the bands i travel with…. these kids are in my thoughts. keep them in yours, too, please.
